How much does estate planning cost?
My standard, comprehensive base plan for couples is a flat fee of $4,500, and my standard base plan for individuals is $3,500. These transparent base rates cover the essential design, drafting, and finalization of your primary estate planning documents. You will know your exact total before I begin any work.
What is included in the standard base plan?
My standard plans are designed to fully protect your primary assets, your family, and your medical wishes. They include:
Revocable Living Trust to avoid probate court and provide a thoughtful and tax-efficient structure for passing on your assets at death.
Pour-Over Will to protect minor children and handle any probate assets.
Financial Power of Attorney to manage your personal finances if you’re ever incapacitated.
Advance Healthcare Directive to outline your medical preferences.
Trust Funding Instructions to help you align your assets with your trust.
One Primary Residence Deed (if you’d like to me to handle recording any deeds, you’ll be responsible for the county recording fees).
Are there any additional fees that might come up?
While the base fee covers most clients' needs, complex situations require extra time and specialized drafting. Additional fees apply for:
Multiple Properties: The base plan includes transferring your primary residence. Additional real estate deeds incur a per-deed fee.
Business Assignments: Transferring ownership of an LLC, corporation, or partnership into your trust.
Extensive Custom Drafting: Complex distributions, highly specific sub-trusts, or unique asset management rules.
Do you offer options for simpler situations or financial hardships?
Yes. I believe everyone deserves access to quality estate planning. If you have an exceptionally straightforward estate or face financial constraints, I offer a sliding-scale, needs-based pricing model. We can discuss your situation during your initial consultation to find a fee that fits your budget.
How do you determine if I qualify for sliding-scale pricing?
Qualification is based on two primary factors:
Simplicity of needs: Individuals who only require basic documents (like a simple Will and Powers of Attorney) without a trust structure.
Financial situation: I look at your unique financial circumstances to ensure my services remain accessible.
When is payment due?
I believe in financial predictability. We will agree upon your final fee—including any necessary add-ons—before I begin drafting. Payment is due after I have provided you with drafts of your full plan.
